The Port of Kelsey Bay is located in the Johnstone Strait, along the inside passage of beautiful Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. It is home to a host of marine life, easily viewed from the very popular wharf. Orcas, humpbacks, sea lions, sea otters, dolphin, and jellyfish, as well as a variety of fish – including salmon and halibut – can be seen at varying times of the year. Bald eagles soar overhead and have been known to help themselves to an easy meal at your expense… so if you’re fishing, you’d best keep an eye on your catch! (No rod? No problem! The store rents fishing rods to those who’d like to throw a line or two.)

With views of the Johnstone Strait, Hardwicke and Helmcken Islands, Mt. H’Kusam, and the mainland mountains, photo ops are endless. Inclement weather – no worries! Pull up a chair in Al’s Room – a glassed-in, all-weather room where you can sit in comfort and enjoy the views. On many weekends during the summer, you’ll find a local artist there, displaying their craft and offering an opportunity for you to learn more about who they are and what they do.
